Steven A. Gifford
Dr. Gifford attended Indiana University during his undergraduate training and then received his Doctor of Optometry from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada.
Dr. Gifford served in the U.S. Air Force for two years as a captain stationed at Altus Air Force Base performing the duties of a Doctor of Optometry. While there, he served as a liaison between the Junior Officers Council and the Altus Air Force Base Hospital. Later he opened his practice in Altus. He served on the Board of Directors of the Altus Area Chamber of Commerce and has been active in the Altus Lions Club holding various positions including that of President.
Dr. Gifford is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians. He and his wife Anita have two sons. Anita serves as office manager and performs many patient related tasks within the office including pre-testing and recording of patient medical history information.

Anita Gifford, front left received her bachelors and masters degrees from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She taught in the Altus Public School System for six years before joining Steve in his optometric practice as office manager.
Jan Harris, front right worked in the health care field since 1970’s. Jan schedules appointments and works with various insurance submittals and is very knowledgeable about their intricacies. She also does frame selections, frame repairs and receptionist duties. Jan has two daughters and a new grandchild.
Sandy Smalts, back right has worked for our office for eleven years. She started out with clerical duties and her job description has grown to include frame selection, medicare submittal, medicare regulations, visual field testing and contact lens ordering, assisting and instructing. Sandy and her husband Darrel have four children.
Mary Spradling, back left is the newest member of our staff. She may be the first voice you hear when you call our office. Besides receptionist duties, Mary stays busy with clerical and frame duties. She and her husband, Larry, have three children.
